- I really wish I could agree. Alas, the mid to high end of the Mac & PC
- markets are both substantially faster than an 060/50. Also, I saw the
- article on the Bond movie, but couldn't find any reference to them using
- Amigas for rendering. I suppose I may have overlooked something, but it
- sounded to me like they were just using the Raptor (Alpha, Windows NT?)
- and the fellow they interviewed had to backpedal pretty fast to make the
- magazine happy. He said something like "The reason we're using Amigas,
- or actually Lightwave on the Raptor, is....".

- Unfortunately, the Amigas lack of performance has really hurt it in this
- market. All the former "Amiga produced shows" like B5, SQ, etc. have
- gone to Windows NT machines to get the performance available there (not
- only from raw CPU performance, but they have SMP capability native in
- NT. Although LW doesn't currently take advantage of it, its only a
- matter of time). I feel it is going to be difficult to get this market
- back. Having leading edge price/performance is necessary, but not
- sufficient, for this. There will have to be something else. Anyway, I
- think it is essential for AT to provide native SMP in AmigaOS 4.x.
